What do hear in every Sunday school report in every church, in every denomination, and at every opportunity? What is … Continue reading →

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God , that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over … Continue reading →

As we seek to save our lives by accumulating all the things we think will save us, we lose the most valuable. We lose our souls in the end but we are blinded by the bondage of our hope. The kidnapper has deceived the prey into thinking that this is all that is left. So we live situation by situation and we subject our souls future to the grave.

The work of Jesus Christ as Savior is the prominent theme in the Bible. He is the promised seed of woman who will conquer Satan (Gen. 3:15). He is the promised Servant of Yahweh who would bear the sins of the whole world (Isa. 53:4-6; Jn. 1:24). As the Savior Jesus Christ died on the … Continue reading →

How then do we live a life worthy of our calling? The Christian life is not the same thing as the culturally accepted norms of the local community in which we live. The world is antagonistic to the Christian life (1 John 2:15-17). God has called us “out of the darkness into his marvelous light” (1 Peter 2:9b NET). How tragic when you can’t tell the difference between the standards of the culture and the local church.
