Disconnected

1 John 2:15-17
15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions is not from the Father but is from the world. 17 And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.

There are probably thousands of pastors, assistant ministers, youth ministers, elders and the like all trying to understand why is it so
difficult to get members to read and or study.  Not only that but to get people in bible study or community groups.  So what does the scripture mentioned has to do with it.  Doesn’t the sake of peace force some to turn a blind eye to certain things?  These people will naturally hold to a lower standard or at least provide a way to gain moral comfort.  Best way to do it is claim ignorance aka don’t study to show thyself approved.  There is a deliberate disconnection with God in order to maintain a love of the world and or peace with it.  We want to coexist and not to rock the boat.  We want what the world has to offer and there are times to the riches it offers conflict with relationship with Christ.  So we do a little dirt and then do a little good works to balance it out.  The dirt we do, we chalk it up to being human or just a poor sinner trying to make it.  We see something we want no matter what it is or what it will cost us we desire it and go get it.   We here people tell us to live a full meaningful life and having things is how you do that.    We do this because the reward of heaven is to far and we have no understanding of eternity.  So there are many who gladly preach the “blessings now” sermon, these men sound more like Dr. Phil instead of men of God.  There is a growing separation between the Christian lifestyle and the Christian living between Monday and Sunday.   The life coach/pastor dangerously  teach believers to be a better you when it is impossible without Christ.  In all that they do and all that we do Christ becomes the co-signer on a car loan for a reckless teenager.  So you say that you don’t love the world….

James 4:1-10
1 What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you? 2You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God. 3 When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.

4 You adulterous people,[a] don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. 5 Or do you think Scripture says without reason that he jealously longs for the spirit he has caused to dwell in us[b]6 But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says:

“God opposes the proud
but shows favor to the humble.”[c]

7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

We try to hide this behavior and call it kingdom building as if God requires us to takeover what already belongs to him.  How can a
sinner man sit in a gold chair on tv and proclaim Christ who died on the cross poor? Acts 17:24 “The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. 25 And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else.

But our problem is that we all want to be liked and if it means not being holy so be it.  We don’t want to be called Jesus freaks so be back off.  We don’t want to be called fanatics or radicals so we easy up and watered it down.  We want to be loved by all the wrong people.  We desire to please the cool kids at school and they could care less about us.  We are ashamed of God and the main reason is because we can’t give an answer to why be believe.  The disconnection comes for not knowing the God we claim to serve and its our own fault as we try to live in two completely different worlds.

John 15:18 “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. 19 If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. 20 Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’[b] If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. 21They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the one who sent me. 22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin.23 Whoever hates me hates my Father as well. 24 If I had not done among them the works no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin. As it is, they have seen, and yet they have hated both me and my Father.25 But this is to fulfill what is written in their Law: ‘They hated me without reason.’[c]

I’m so thankful and blessed for being surrounded by those who speak truth. The last thing my soul needs is some ear tickling, ego puffing, self glorifying message. Thank you Lord. Thanks for your obedience brother.
