What Are We Doing?!?!

There is a new gospel going around that is a perversion of the holy God of Abraham Isaac and Jacob. This gospel has white washed the true gospel and allows you to toss out what your mind can’t handle. You can throw way what doesn’t fit into your desired lifestyle as if you are buying a wireless plan. Because depending on how you live you can change your god accordingly. Its all based on what you value. Soon the true Christians will have to fight for their Savior but our we willing to die for Christ? What have we become?

1 Peter 1:13-25 (ESV)

13 Therefore, preparing your minds for action,[a] and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 14 As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, 15 but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16 since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” 17 And if you call on him as Father who judges impartially according to each one’s deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile, 18 knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot. 20 He was foreknown before the foundation of the world but was made manifest in the last times for the sake of you 21 who through him are believers in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.

22 Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart, 23 since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God; 24 for

“All flesh is like grass
and all its glory like the flower of grass.
The grass withers,
and the flower falls,
25 but the word of the Lord remains forever.”
And this word is the good news that was preached to you.

We are made for worship; for his glory and in worship the lowly praise the exalted and holy. Those made for his glory can never go back nor can they worship that which is beneath them. If we truly examine what was given up for us, I believe we can start to see. Part of the blindness that plagues the Christian is that we have never placed a concrete value on the saving work of Christ. The notion of salvation or the gospel has yet to solidify in our hearts.

In the realm of commerce, a dollar amount is placed on the items that we buy. Whether the items are food, clothing, housing, entertainment, education etc. We all expect that the item being purchased equate to the value placed upon it. If it doesn’t, we feel cheated or robbed. When the experience of having that item exceed the value it causes a overwhelming sense of joy. So much so, that we tell everyone we know or come in contact with that they need it. We tell them were we bought the item and if the individual who sold the item bestowed upon us a equally gratifying experience; we share that as well. We would even go as far as to advise others to only buy from that individual.

When we have such a treasure, we literally treasure it. We guard it and watch over it; in some cases how we treat it goes into the area of worship. We begin to use the item only on special occasions. We only wear it to the most prestigious events. In a sense,  it has become holy to us all because its value is more than the cost or the cost of it has placed a high value on the item. But another dynamic to this is that when this object of our love, who’s value exceeds its price , who’s benefits seems to never run out is given to us as a gift. But not just any gift but one that is received without asking or seeking it. In some instances the giver of such a glorious gift expects worship in return. Especially if the gift is given before an audience.

Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20

19Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.

Titus 2:11-14

11 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, 12 training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, 13 waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.

Ransom is the practice of holding a prisoner or item to extort money or property to secure their release, or it can refer to the sum of money involved. When ransom means “payment”, the word comes via Old French rançon from Latin redemptio = “buying back”:[2] compare “redemption”.

to redeem (third-person singular simple present redeems, present participle redeeming, simple past and past participle redeemed)
To recover ownership of something by paying a sum. To liberate by payment of a ransom. To set free by force. To save, rescue To clear, release from debt or blame To expiate, atone (for …) To convert (some bond or security) into cash To save from a state of sin (and from its consequences). To repair, restore To reform, change (for the better) To restore the reputation or honour of oneself or something. To reclaim

So seeing that we was not redeem with silver or gold but with the blood of Christ who knew no sin; what is our value? If the Creator redeemed us with himself for His good pleasure and He as asked that we be holy because He is holy(1 Peter 1:16); why do we worship the perishable things instead? If our LORD hold us in high regard then why would what is now for holy use still eat with the swine?

Ephesians 1:3-14

3Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. 4For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5he[c] predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— 6to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. 7In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace 8that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding. 9And he[d] made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, 10to be put into effect when the times will have reached their fulfillment—to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ.

11In him we were also chosen,[e] having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, 12in order that we, who were the first to hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. 13And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, 14who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.

What more needs to be said? Yet there are some who will hold on to a lifestyle that is not pleasing to God and still claim to be a Christian? Some have formed their golden calf and dance before it all because everybody else is doing it. How dare we say that we are children of God and act like the world does. Would you clean your toilet with your hair brush or tooth brush and then use it as normal. NO! you wouldn’t even if you did clean it; you would throw it away! Any branch that bears no fruit goes into the fire! (John 15:5-7). We continue to think that we have been saved from hell but we were saved from God’s wrath(Romans 5:8-10). We continue to think that we can simply “accept” Christ and pick up living were we left off. We have ministers who will ok that because they don’t want to offend us. Because if we get offended we may stop giving money. Guess why Christ was crucified; because what He taught was offensive. He wasn’t crucified because He was saying “peace, peace (Jeremiah 6:14)” but He was saying repent and believe. What are we doing? I don’t know but I know what we are not doing.

God bless you & may the Holy Spirit lead you

  1. Joseph says:

Thank you for your obedience in sharing the Truth. It’s called the progressive/emerging church movement. I hear 100s and 1000s are flocking to it.. Itching ears. 😦

I came across this a week or so ago, it pretty much sums it up. It’s a parody on the Progressive Insurance commercials. This is some serious stuff – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4MDnjN3CP4E
