Praying for Our Enemies
Ephesians 6:12
Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places
Matthews 5:43-45
43“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor[a] and hate your enemy.’ 44But I tell you: Love your enemies[b] and pray for those who persecute you, 45that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.
John 14:8-14
8Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.”
9Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. 11Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves. 12I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. 14You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
John 17:20-26
20“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: 23I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. 24“Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world. 25“Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me. 26I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.”
We have all been told to love our enemies and to even pray for them. This morning the Holy Spirit illuminated the scriptures to me. Do we realize that those we war against are not in Christ? They are not apart of the royal priesthood and have not been given to the Son of God. Thus, if you have not been justified, then you have already been condemned. The wages of sin is death and to reject Christ is the reject the Father and you have already made your bed in hell. So we struggle against spiritual forces who have deceived the wicked and they are DEAD! They are zombies wondering the earth. These zombies effect others spreading the lies of Satan. God wishes to see all men saved, and they don’t know because they haven’t heard. We must pray for the lost cause we are to continue the work of Christ to save the lost and proclaim the Gospel Message. If it is God’s desire to save the lost then we should not condemn the lost. Weren’t we once lost? Weren’t we on the list of those already dead in sin? How will the seeds get planted if we don’t sow the seeds? Yes God knows His people but we don’t, we must pray and ask the Holy Spirit to lead us the lost whom the Father has called out of the world. Just look at how Christ trained the disciples, it is very clear of what God has purposed. We are not doing our jobs and we are all guilty of praying for our enemies down fall. But think about the movie the Matrix, how everyone that is still plugged into the Matrix is a potential agent. The only way they will not be is to unplug them from the Matrix but they have to be ready to be unplugged. The Matrix deceived them to make them believe that they were truly living. They were just pawns in the game. So to are those who are still in the world, just potential agents of the prince of the air. Satan has deceived them into thinking that they are living and they are already dead.
What if all the things we associate with having a full life; drinking, sex, fowl language, disrespect, rebellious behavior, smoking weed, stealing, cheating on our spouses, neglecting the poor, glorifying evil things, being hypocrisy and anything else you think is so fun. And then God tells you that all of the things you love, He hates to the point that He will case into the lake of fire. What then will you do? This is what the elect is to suppose to be praying for, this is what we are suppose to be spreading the word of God for. The lost, those that we war against whom the devil has deceived. But those that have harden their hearts towards God and refuse the Gospel, God will give them over to the lust of their hearts.
