Motives

I would like to ask a question…. Does a married couple stay committed to each other and do not commit adultery because its wrong.  Also, its grounds for divorce or do they not commit adultery because they love each other?  Do you respect your spouse out of love or because its the right thing to do?  Do you care for them when they are sick because they cared for you when you was sick or do you do it because you love them?  What are our motives and what truly drives the things we do for our spouses?

Isaiah 61:10
I delight greatly in the LORD; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.

If Christ is our bridegroom and the church is married to Him, what motives us to respond to Christ the way we do?  Is it out of rules and laws or is it out of the Love we have for Our Salvation, Our Redeemer, Our Christ Jesus?

Psalms 51:16,17 16You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it; you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings. 17The sacrifices of God are† a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.

We at times get caught up in keeping rules and not just giving God our hearts and loving Him. A man in love will, willingly give his life. Christ did it… But a man who is concern with doing what’s right will try to justify it first and rationalize it until it benefits him. I’m not saying rules are not needed but when it comes to love you don’t need someone to tell you what you should do. That just applies to life in general. Think about it…

The love of your neighbor should be enough to not steal from them right? Rules fail, love doesn’t.
