Guidance of the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit

There is a place in which the unsanctified mind and heart cannot enter. There are hidden recesses of the heart, deep down in the unseen realm of the human life, where the Holy Spirit dwells and where He teaches us right decisions and sanctified purposes. It is in this hidden sphere of activity in the inner life that the Holy Spirit takes up His residence and there He moves and impels us to become filled with the knowledge of God’s will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. Spiritual understanding comes only with the growth of the spiritual person. One who wishes to know the leading of God must yield himself completely—mind, heart, will, imagination, personality—to the control of the Holy Spirit. The Christian must open up his life to the continual abiding presence of the Spirit of holiness and power.

I read the words above on the “abide in Christ” website and it brought to mind the question that I hear a lot from newbies to the faith.  “How can I hear from God?”  the answer is you have to quiet the noise in your life and turn God up.  Then you can hear,  we have a lot of noise in our lives and usually listen to whatever screams the loudest.  Yielding to the Holy Spirit turns your life into a living, walking, breathing testimony.

Hebrews 8:10(KJV)

For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:

This is actually a quote from Jeremiah 31:31-34, God seeks a relationship, a fellowship and a people who delight in doing His will.   God’s law becomes a inner principles that you do without a second thought.   The Holy Spirit allows you to do that.  A person like this lives it out loud but we are conforming to this world because we are ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, so we quiet the Spirit.

Mark 8:38 (KJV)

38Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

Our living life is to glorify God,  we are to prayer in our secret closets not live out our lives in one.   We are a living testimony.   We have no idea what we are doing to God’s heart, we grieve the Holy Spirit and Christ died for us.  We should be unashamed of the Gospel because it saved you from death.   Understand that all that Christ suffered through; the beatings, torture, mocking and finally death on the cross.   What He did, it should have been us.  Think of how we hurt our parents when we are ashamed when they come around our friends….  And those of us with kids now, think of how you feel when your kids return the favor…. You can witness without saying a word if you Live It Out Loud! People shouldn’t have to play the guessing game to find out if you are a Christian.
