Why Bother?

Holy Spirit Jesus God Trinity

Over the passing months and years I have forwarded a lot of emails.  At times it can be overwhelming to see your inbox with more mail from me.  But at the same time, you cannot begin to understand the compiling movement of the Holy Spirit.  When the presence of God is around you, there is no denying it.  Its hard to get people to see or understand that.  I have come to realize that though we would like to think that we chose God and that we chose to walk down that isle to accept Christ as our savior.   But we are God’s elect, predestined:

Ephesians 1:11 (NIV)

11In him we were also chosen,[a] having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will,

He has chosen us to receive of the great gift of grace.  He has selected us and with that in mind how could I being called by my God to spread the Gospel to not obey the guidance and leadership of the Holy Spirit in my life.  How can any of us think so much of our lives, when we can’t even do the right thing on our own?  How can anyone who sees the love of God plainly and beaten for the elect, not want to do right by Him.  So why should we play with God?  What kind of person can accept the love of God and hate his brother/sister in Christ?  Accepting this God does not make you double minded or a person who can lay down their religion to curse someone out.  Yes, that was harsh and I hide behind the cross.  How can you lay down a God who could at any time gotten off the cross and left you for dead?  The flood was because God hates! sin, Jesus was because He loves us more.

Romans 8:29 (NIV)

29For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.

Chosen to like Jesus and not to become angels after death.  Christ is everything Adam was not and so much more.  Nowadays, whenever I think of my Lord all that comes to mind is “Much More”.  He laid himself bare, open to all who desire rest.  Hold on to Him as if tomorrow you will see His face.  He is so much more that what we think we know.  He is so much more than what they preach about.  His goodness is much more than paying our bills.  So much more than just this lifetime.  When you think about what we desired and what we received instead how can you not just say, “Much More”.   Just to think, whatever it is you think you know of God, He is “Much More”!
